1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Crayon website, game-building application, Arcade, and related services operated by Crayon Labs Inc (collectively, “Crayon,” the “Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It covers information we process when you visit our websites, create an account, build or publish a game, or contact us.

This policy does not cover third-party websites, services, or game portals that have their own privacy practices, even when Crayon links to or works with them.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information. Your name, email address, username, sign-in details provided through an authentication service, and account preferences.
  • Creative content. Prompts, game concepts, project files, game rules, generated and uploaded assets, edits, titles, descriptions, and other material you submit to create or publish a game.
  • Communications. Information in messages you send to us, including support requests, feedback, survey responses, and meeting bookings.
  • Payment and transaction information. When you buy a subscription or a credit pack, our payment processor collects your payment details and billing information. Card numbers go to the processor, not to us — we receive only the record of the transaction: what you bought, when, the amount, its status, and your credit balance and its expiry.

Information collected when you use Crayon

  • Usage information. Pages and features you use, games you open or play, actions in the builder, referring pages, approximate session timing, and interactions with our emails or website.
  • Device and technical information. IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, general location inferred from IP, identifiers, and error or diagnostic data.
  • Cookies and similar technology. We and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand use of the Service, and improve performance.

We may also receive limited information from services you choose to connect to Crayon, such as an identity provider or publishing platform, according to your settings with that service.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, and personalize Crayon;
  • turn your prompts and project inputs into game content and requested outputs;
  • save projects, publish games you choose to make public, and enable sharing;
  • authenticate accounts and protect the Service against abuse, fraud, and security risks;
  • respond to support requests and communicate about your account or the Service;
  • measure performance, troubleshoot errors, and develop or improve features;
  • comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use; and
  • send product news or marketing where permitted, with a way to opt out.

We may create aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you and use it for analytics, research, and improving Crayon.

Legal bases for processing

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests such as improving and securing the Service, comply with legal obligations, or based on your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already occurred.

4. How we share information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. With vendors that help us provide hosting, storage, authentication, communications, customer support, security, and other infrastructure. We use PostHog to understand product and website usage. These providers may process information only to perform services for us and subject to their agreements with Crayon.
  • AI providers. Prompts, project context, and related inputs may be sent to model or infrastructure providers when needed to generate, edit, moderate, or otherwise deliver the game-building features you request.
  • Payment processing. We use Stripe to take payments. Information you enter at checkout is collected and processed by Stripe under its own privacy policy; Crayon receives the transaction record needed to grant credits, run subscriptions, and keep our books.
  • At your direction. When you publish a game, share a link, export a project, connect another service, or otherwise ask us to disclose information.
  • Legal and safety reasons. When we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or needed to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Crayon, our users, or others.
  • Business changes. In connection with a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Public content

Games and profile information you choose to publish may be visible to anyone and may be played, shared, indexed by search engines, or embedded elsewhere. Do not include personal or confidential information in public game content. Removing a published game from Crayon may not remove copies that others saved or shared outside the Service.

6. Your choices and privacy rights

You can update certain account details and manage projects through the Service. You may also ask us to access, correct, delete, or provide a copy of personal information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision about a privacy request.

To make a request, email aniket@usecrayon.ai. We may need to verify your identity before completing it. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message. Browser settings can be used to block or delete cookies, although some Service features may then work differently.

7. Retention and security

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain legitimate business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, why we collected it, and applicable law. Backups and logs may persist for a limited period after deletion.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong, unique password and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

8. International data transfers

Crayon and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers.

9. Children

Crayon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If local law requires a higher minimum age to consent to online services, a parent or legal guardian must authorize use of Crayon. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and delete it.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Crayon evolves. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects your privacy rights, we will provide additional notice when required.

Questions or privacy requests can be sent to Crayon Labs Inc at aniket@usecrayon.ai.
